The County of San Diego proclaimed a local emergency due to at least five wildland fires burning, including in the community of Fallbrook, the City of Carlsbad and on Camp Pendleton.

The proclamation, signed at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, also requests that the Governor proclaim a state of emergency in the County.

By proclaiming the emergency, the County can more easily access state and federal resources as needed to help in fighting the fires.

The proclamation states that more than 20 structures, including homes, have been destroyed.
